 What taxes are taken out of the prize money?
By law the Lottery Commission is required to report any winnings that are over $599 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Winnings that exceed $5,000 will have a federal tax withholding imposed on them of 25%, the top federal graduated rate is 35%. If you are not a resident of the United States and you win an amount over $599 a federal withholding tax of %30 will be issued. The State of New Hampshire signed into law as of July 1, 2009 a 10% gambling tax that is withheld from all lottery winnings of $600 and greater.
 
 Who can play the New Hampshire Lottery?
In order to play the New Hampshire you must be 18 years or older to purchase a ticket. All tickets must be purchased from a licenced New Hampshire retailer.

 Where does the lottery money go to in the state of New Hampshire?
Of every dollar paid out approximately 30 cents goes back to the state in the form of aid to education. Approximately 12 cents goes toward the cost of sales and approximately 2 cents goes toward operating expenses.
